Michikazu KOJIMA Michikazu Kojima is chief senior researcher at the Institute of Developing Economies, JETRO. He is a member of Theme 1 of the PECoP-Asia research project for SCP in Asia. He has studied environmental policies on waste management, recycling, international trade of recyclable waste and marine plastic issues in Asian countries. He was seconded to the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia from March 2018 to September 2020. He has contributed international the Expert Working Group of cooperation programs, such as Environmentally Sound Management under the Basel Convention and the Technical Expert Committee for Green Industry Platform organized by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). He has also served as a course leader on JICA training courses on recycling policy. He leads Theme 2 of the PECoP-Asia (see http://www.susdesign.t.u-tokyo.ac.jp/s-16/). His academic background includes both systems engineering and policy science. His current work focuses mainly on the following three themes: establishing a regime inclusive of future generations and sustainability indicators, transitioning to sustainable consumption and production patterns and sustainable lifestyles, and evaluating and analyzing 3R (reduce, reuse and recycle)/circular economy policies and waste treatment systems in an era of population decline/aging.
